Genuine, all natural, hand-split Pacific Northwest Cedar kindling. Dried for years under a roof, and no chemicals added. Full box, 1728 cu. in., approx. 12.5 lbs of wood, not moisture. Understand that building a fire is not rocket science, but there are steps involved that need to be followed. The only purpose of paper or tinder is to ignite the kindling. The only purpose of kindling is to ignite the firewood. Our product is not intended to be lit directly with a match like a Presto Log or chemically treated product. Crumple a little paper, put the kindling on top, then add your firewood. In general, the bigger your firewood, the more kindling you will need. WONDER WOOD is so dry, it will take off immediately, and unlike the resinous woods, it burns very hot, and clean. As such, it has enough heat to ignite the firewood quickly. Understand, however, if your firewood is green and wet, even though it can be ignited, it will use all the available heat output to boil off the moisture in it. That low temperature, smoky fire will also creosote up your chimney. WONDER WOOD is hand split from recycled cedar shakes on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state. The pieces are basically 12 inches long, in varying sizes to facilitate both starting the fire and providing coals. Our boxes are always full, and average 120+ pieces per. Which is why, in an effort to spare further trees, we source our cedar from shakes that have already fulfilled one purpose.
